What's for Lunch, Milk

By Claire Llewellyn

Colorful, high-quality photographs complement the text and tell more than half of this story. The book accurately depicts modern dairy production and processing with a couple of exceptions. On the pages immediately following the accurate explanation of dairy production, the photo is of a beef cow as the text explains why a cow can give milk. The next photo depicts cows feeding on silage in a confined area but the text states that cows spend most of the year grazing in fields. The other images of modern dairy production and processing are rarely if ever depicted in children's books and that makes this a recommended addition. An excellent glossary will help build vocabulary.
