From Cane to Sugar

By Roberta Basel

This is another book in an excellent series of books depicting the various plant and animal sources of food and fibers that come from plants and animals. As an early reader book, the content is short but fairly accurate. Each page has three to five sentences. It is a complete depiction of everything from the cane to the consumer. All of the images are of modern farm equipment and modern processing operations. Particular attention is paid to the total sugar-making process. A few of the photographs are common in several books, but this book has additional images that clarify the sugar-making process. This book depicts sugar-making from sugar cane and includes sugar beets. The book ends with a glossary and index.
