Farm Animals - Rabbits

By Holly Endres

This early reader book provides very basic information about rabbits. It identifies rabbits as part of a series about farm animals. This is one of the few books in that series that we are recommending. Why? Because this is a topic not commonly found but a growing segment of agriculture for meat and wool. The text consists of only one or two sentences per page in large type but what it contains is largely accurate. The one area for concern is that it indicates that rabbits should be let out of their cages to hop around the farmyard for exercise. Please share with the students that farmers would not do this because the rabbits would run away and the farmer would not be able to catch them. The book ends with a glossary, additional resources and Web sites.
