Foundation Highlights from the 2020 AFBF Annual Convention
We had a great time at the 2020 American Farm Bureau Annual Convention! Here are some highlights from our time in Austin, TX!
We loved interacting with members at our booth in the tradeshow. We displayed some of our great educational resources and heard stories about how our resources are being used in classrooms around the country.
Our bright socks and cowboy hats were a huge hit and we are so grateful for all who donated to the Foundation at our booth. Please see our full catalog of resources here.
Texas Farm Bureau showed incredible generosity with the baskets they donated to our online auction! The creative baskets represented the dynamic products Texas has to offer!
Flapjack Fundraiser-Book of the Year
Sunday started bright and early with our Flapjack Fundraiser! While enjoying pancakes we proudly introduced Daniel Meloy, our new Foundation Executive Director.
Our board members Renee McCauley and Bill Belzer did a great job emceeing the event, sharing the Foundation’s accomplishments from the past year.
We are so excited to announce the 2020 Book of the Year Full of Beans: Henry Ford Grows a Car by Peggy Thomas.
Board member, William Hileman led a discussion with Peggy as we learned about the process of researching and writing a children’s book.
Additionally, we were delighted to present the Austin Public Library with a donation of $1,000. Rachel Nguyen a local librarian, was able to join us and accept the donation on their behalf.
We are deeply grateful for all who choose to join us for this event. If you were unable to attend the breakfast but are still interested in purchasing the Book of the Year, please find it here!
Peggy later joined us at the tradeshow to sign copies of her book and we were so excited to see the long line of people interested in meeting Peggy!
Secretary Perdue
Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue stopped by our booth on Monday. It was an honor to briefly host the Secretary and show him our Book of the Year.
Foundation Night Out
Our time in Austin closed at the historic Austin City Limits theater where we hosted singer Jamey Johnson for a great night of music and fun.
We had a great time interacting with Farm Bureau members in Austin and cannot wait to see everyone again in San Diego next year!
